The Rum Diary

It was the beginning of the 60’s, the early-Kennedy “Mad Men” era, the times of mid-day boozing & guilt-free cigarette smoking. The Rum Diary (the film released in 2011, based on the novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson) took us on a ride through San Juan, Puerto Rico. Sharing with us dapper men in straw hats and cool sunglasses (stars Johnny Depp & Aaron Eckhart), sitting behind the wheel of a fast-driven shiny red Corvette…
Not to be outdone by the movies’ female star, Chenault (Amber Heard) with matching shiny red lipstick, who also spends time draped seductively on a sun-lounger in a millionaire’s palm fringed, beach-front mansion. The film had a lot of visual appeal, and we can’t help reminiscing over this age of timeless glamour, as these images show..
Nowadays, people know the price of everything, and the value of nothing.
Oh God, why did she have to happen? Just when I was doing so good without her.
I thought you weren’t gonna drink again?….I wasn’t but I finally beat my will power.
